Jay-Z quest?

I don't want to appear ignorant, but can somebody tell me how did Jay-Z become known as Hova? And what is that? On the new Mary J. Blige cd he is simply H.O.

    In one of his earlier songs he called him self Jay-Hova. That's where Hova comes from. I've heard him say Hov to shorten that up too, but I don't know about H.O.
